To Hell With Us All

We all believe ourselves to be good,
All the time, not only when we are in the mood.
We most likely will do right by each other
Unless we err, one to another.
Yet we seem only to lie to ourselves,
And we speak of the truth in under-baked halves.
Allow me to speak the truth to one and all,
And proclaim that to hell with us all.

We were given an earth resistant to much harm,
It faces rain, earthquakes, volcanoes and this and that storm,
I’ve heard of fire rain down to depths beneath the seas,
I’ve read of water rising ten times above the trees
Yet the earth has stood strong and unchanged,
Then we came to see what we could end,
Today earth’s demise is a fear for us all,
Really, to hell with us all.

I’ve seen nations complain that people feast on more than they should,
Now they are bigger than anyone ever thought they could,
Yet our brothers and sisters cry of hunger with nothing to eat,
Their size so small and legs no wider than chicken feet.
Oh yes, we all love the neighbor we cannot see,
Yet as they suffer, at least it isn’t me.
Haven’t we all just dropped the ball?
To hell with us all.

I’ve seen people die painful deaths,
Burnt until he utters his last breaths.
Others hacked by machetes and knives,
Families killed, children, men and wives.
Perhaps this is tough love or perhaps not,
Perhaps we are not all what we thought,
I look at us all
To hell with us all.
