Life's lesson

I've always seen life as a fight,
As a battle I need to win
I've learned to fight the tide
And try to chart my own course.
But time teaches us anew,
There's a new lesson every day,
Sometimes we must follow the tide.
Let it take us where it will,
For perhaps it knows what we do not,
And might just take us where we ought to go,
It may be the lesson of fools,
But a lesson we may all need to learn.
